I officially started Focus T25 with day 1’s video: Cardio. Focus T25 is Shaun T’s latest workout. It is only 25 minutes long which is a great workout for someone who works long hours, or is a parent, or is a working parent who is up in the middle of the night still like me. Â I love that I can bust it out in the morning before the kids wake up without having to get up at an ungodly hour, or I can wait and even do it while they are awake.
The very first video is Cardio. Focus T25 is split into two cycles: cycle 1 is the Alpha Cycle which builds the foundation of total body fitness. Tanya modifies all the workouts, so even if you’re out of shape you can make it through the workout. There is no formal warmup, and instead you just get right to it. There are also no breaks. You do each exercise for about 30 seconds and build up to the most intense version.
For example, you do low kicks, then low kicks on the balls of your feet, and then you do high fast switch kicks. At the 15 minute and 5 minute marks you do a “burnout” which is about 2 minutes of doing all of the most intense moves you had done in the previous minutes. You don’t think you’re going to be tired because the first section of each exercise is super easy, but before you know it your heart is racing and your muscles are tired.
I like this type of workout because it forces you to really focus on your form and tighten your muscles. At the end of 25 minutes I wasn’t exhausted and spent like after Insanity, but I felt good. Today (one day later) some of my muscles are sore. I didn’t modify any of the exercises, but I am always glad to see the option there in front of me in case I need it.
My goal is to do Focus T25 every other day for a total of 3-4 workouts per week. I am not doing it as prescribed as my work and life schedule is more intense than ever. I don’t want to burn out on any aspect of my life, including fitness, so I’m keeping it to a level I can manage for a long time. I lost all of my pregnancy weight, so now my focus is on slow, lasting weight loss and toning. I fit in most of my clothes and feel really good about myself, so I have more patience to reach my goals. On the days I don’t do Focus T25 I have made it a goal to do 100 pushups and 10 total minutes of plank before the day is over. That way I still use my body on those “off” days.

This is such an awesome workout..on week 5, have never lost weight this fast!
Have you checked out onehundredpushups.com or the app? It’s a great way to get in pushups (although not 100 in a day, you build up to it), build strength and doesn’t take a ton of time. They also have a squat program and sit up program. I like them because they tell you what to do each day and you can do them when you have a spare 5 minutes.
I’m also a working mother. My daughter is 8 months and I am still am really struggling to fit in exercise. Work has been busier than ever which isn’t helping. I’ve been researching the beach body workouts and this one appeals to me, mostly because of the 25 min time. Is there a lot of jumping invoked? Our condo is on the second floor of an old two family and I don’t want to torture my neighbor. Thanks for sharing all this. You are an inspiration!
I’m so excited about the T25.
What bothers me is that most of the reviews I see on the internet are from coachs.
I will def start this next month
🙂What do you think of T25 so far? I’m not a huge fan of how choreographed some of it is (I have the coordination and memory of a child) compared to Insanity.
Hey ladies (and one gentleman)I am a beachbody coach ( I know evil) buuuuut I do have to say so far it is my favorite program out of all the ones I’ve done (insanity, p90x, p90x2,turbo fire, jillian michaels ripped in 30, 30 day shred, banish fat boost metabolism)…the list goes on. I could use a little more action sometimes with the alpha phase but I still get a pretty good sweat and I really like the way it builds, I especially love the “burnout” that’s just fun 🙂 If anyone would like to join me for a little extra motivation on the beachbody site I’m super pumped up to help anybody out at :

If you are working hard to get your results, you might be exposed to the risk of overtraining. According to fitness instructors, the best ways to prevent overtraining is proper nutrition and switching the types of your activities. I have been searching for related articles and find a lot of good advices and professional expertise at http://militarygradenutritionals.com/blog/sports-training-tips/pissed-off-find-out-if-youre-overtraining-and-heading-for-injury-with-bad-personal-sports-training/
